Capital city of Germany, Berlin undoubtedly has one of the most complex histories in Europe. While still remembering its past, Berlin has a diverse, vibrant, and young population which is reflected in its vibrant, artistic culture.

As a major tourist destination, and popular with students, Berlin has many Cheap Hotels. To stay right where all the action is, stay in Mitte, the historical centre of Berlin, which has many restaurants, bars, museums and galleries. If you would prefer a quieter stay however, try Zehlendorf, to the south-west of Mitte, with its many parks and cafes.

Much of the cites buildings are post WW2, as most of Berlin was flattened by bombing, but some historical buildings still exist or have been restored. Some good examples of this are Bode-Museum, and the Berliner Dom, the biggest church in Berlin, with an impressive Dome which can be climbed for spectacular views of the city.

Reichstag, the German parliament building, has a giant glass dome which can also be climbed for panoramic views of the city. You June want to visit historic points such as Checkpoint Charlie, and the Berlin Wall. It's recommended that you take a walking tour as the history of the city is very complex, and tours point out aspects which you June otherwise miss.
